Beautiful, iridescent and elegant, peacocks are a sight to behold!
A peacock in all its splendour!
While most of us call them
peacocks, technically that’s only correct for the males of this type of bird.
Females are peahens, their babies are peachicks and together, they are called
peafowl. A group of peafowl is called a ‘party’ or a ‘pride’!
The long tail of an adult male, known as a ‘train’ can extent to 6 feet long!Peafowl’s long tail feathers do not affect the bird’s ability to take off.
Peafowls are able to fly despite their large size. However, they cannot fly for long periods, and often only fly when faced with danger.
