Postcards from Sunway City Kuala Lumpur

The last time I was back in Malaysia was in 2019 – before the COVID-19 pandemic hit. Fortunately, I was finally able to plan my trip back home this January for the festive celebration. At last, reunited with my loved ones, and not to mention the local cuisine!

I had the greatest opportunity to revisit places I’ve called “home” growing up. Of course I had to take a spin around Sunway City Kuala Lumpur, didn’t I? Let me take you along on my quest for the most picturesque locations in town for my Instagram feed!

Suspension Bridge @ Sunway Lagoon

Get a stunning panoramic view of Sunway Lagoon all the way up here!

Is it really a trip to Sunway City Kuala Lumpur without visiting the iconic Sunway Lagoon? Embracing my fear of heights, I made the big-girl-move of walking across the 428-metre-long suspension bridge right here in Sunway Lagoon!

Spanning across Sunway Surf Beach with a backdrop of lush foliage and the theme park’s vibrant surroundings, the Suspension Bridge offers the best views there, so be sure to strike your best post at this picture-perfect spot! I also caught a glimpse of several thrill-seekers zip lining and bungee jumping across the park – perhaps another day?

The Wildlife Park @ Sunway Lagoon

Get sucked into Samson and Asha’s icy blue eyes!

I managed to also sneak a quick trip to the Sunway Wildlife Park, one of my favourite nooks within Sunway Lagoon. A wildlife enthusiast myself, I was able to get up close and personal with all kinds of animals from around the world with their curated exhibits. A must-visit exhibit is the Tiger Land, home to a pair of rare white tigers, Samson and Asha!

Left to roam free in a glass-free enclosure, I was granted an unmediated view of these icy, blue-eyed beauties as they play and interact with each other. Other exciting exhibits include the White Lion Kingdom, Tree Top Terrace, Bird Savannah, Pet Village, and more!

Grand Entrance @ Sunway Resort Hotel

Be enveloped by the grandeur of Sunway Resort Hotel just by the entrance!

A Klang Valley landmark in its own right, Sunway Resort Hotel’s grand entrance is the very definition of a postcard-worthy location. Even after all these years, the towering bronze statues of safari animals sprawled across their porte-cochere continue to astound me. From the majestic pair of elephants guarding the entryway to a depiction of wild gazelles mid-gallop, this spot is truly a sight to behold.

It’s even more wondrous at night! Capture the grandeur of Sunway Resort Hotel in all its glory as its entryway illuminates its surroundings at dusk. My only regret is that I didn’t book a stay for myself! (maybe next time!)

Water Venture @ Sunway Resort Hotel

Escape the urban hustle in this relaxing escapade tucked in the heart of Sunway City Kuala Lumpur.

Just right around the corner, I stumbled upon this fun-filled zone featuring shady sundecks, shallow pools, and a water playground! It was a tropical paradise tucked in Sunway Resort Hotel, perfect for a cool down on a hot day.

No Nonsense Cafe @ Sunway Pyramid

As a certified caffeine fanatic, I obviously had to seek out for a good cuppa around the corner. I found myself in none other than No Nonsense Cafe, a new addition to Sunway Pyramid’s myriad options of cafés.

Nestled within the Atmos flagship store, its monochromatic aesthetics and subtle hints of Japanese pop culture reeled me in. The cafe also cleverly embraces natural elements into its surroundings, such as a bonsai display and a moss wall, both of which I liked very much.

Take it from a fellow caffeine connoisseur – I approve!

I enjoyed their selection of specialty coffees, especially the Mont Blanc beverage. These visually striking drinks taste as good as they look and definitely deserve a spot on the Gram!

Sunway Pyramid Ice @ Sunway Pyramid

Don’t bin the NG shots that you can look back and laugh over!

With extra time to spare, I decided to pop by the good ol’ Sunway Pyramid Ice for a round of leisure skating. A popular recreational destination in the country, Sunway Pyramid Ice attracts visitors of all ages. So, whether you’re an ice skating pro or trying it out for the first, Sunway Pyramid Ice promises icy cool fun!

While I'm no expert, I never fail to have a good time and manage to sneak in a few candid shots when I'm here!

In short, I had a blast revisiting nostalgic places as well as exploring new ones during my trip back to Sunway City Kuala Lumpur. With so much to see and so much to do, I assure you won’t be running out of things to explore at this scenic haven. One thing’s for sure – I’ll be back for more!
